Devdas (2002), starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, is still regarded as one of their best movies of its time. The historical drama was based on the 1917 novel of the same name by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Taking to Instagram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shared a still from the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie late at night on Tuesday to commemorate the movie's 20th anniversary of release.

The Jodha Akbar (2008) actress shared a still of her character Paro in the film, dressed in a royal blue ethnic outfit. The actress captioned the picture with a number of emoticons. One of the first people to respond to Rai’s post was her husband Abhishek Bachchan, who always supports her. He responded to the post by dropping a heart emoticon.

The 2002 film Devdas chronicles the lives of a well-off law graduate who travels back to India to marry his childhood sweetheart. But the fact that their marriage was rejected sends him down a dark path of drinking and mental suffering.

Shah Rukh played Devdas' whereas Paro was played by Aishwarya. Madhuri Dixit played Chandramukhi in the movie, Jackie Shroff played Chunni Babu, and Kirron Kher played Paro's mother.

At the Cannes Film Festival 20 years ago, Shah Rukh, Aishwarya, and Bhansali walked the red carpet together. Aishwarya made her debut as she exited a traditional carriage at the location wearing a golden saree and gold jewellery.
