The Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund, which opens in the theatres this week, has been handed out a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The makers of the film must be happy with the fact that it has been cleared with 0 cuts. Jhund marks the Bollywood debut of filmmaker Nagraj Popatrao Manjule who has several Marathi films including the blockbuster Sairat (2016) to his credit as a director.

According to sources, the runtime of Jhund is 178 minutes. Given the theme and setting of the film, Jhund expects to score in the Mumbai territory. While many of the states, including Maharashtra, are operating on 50% occupancy, there is a good chance of the state governments doing away with these restrictive measures in the near future.

Though Jhund has taken a good amount of time to reach the theatres, it carries a decent buzz around it and should benefit from Amitabh Bachchan’s presence.

The film went on the floors in December 2018 and was postponed on various occasions for different reasons. It was initially scheduled for a release on 20 September 2019 but the release date was deferred to 13 September 2019. It got pushed again and the Covid-19 crisis led towards the film securing a release for itself more than three years after its principal shooting had begun.

Along with JhundToolsidas Junior will also release in theatres this week. Incidentally, both the films have been co-produced by the same studio, T-Series.
