Arjun Kapoor who made his debut with the film Ishaqzaade has completed 10 years in the film industry. The actor portrayed Parma, a thug in Ishaqzaade, who falls in love with a fiery Muslim girl played by Parineeti Chopra. Arjun recently spoke about how Yash Raj Films' head honcho Aditya Chopra first rejected his debut movie before being persuaded to trust him.

In an interview, Arjun revealed how Aditya denied giving him the lead role in the film and instead suggested that he is better suited for a supporting role. The Gunday actor said, “Aditya Chopra saw my photos first and said yeh to actor nahi ban sakta, isko hum supporting.” He further revealed that even in so many years he had never met the producer in person, “I had met a lot of people because I have grown up in the industry, I will not lie, I had never met Adi sir.".

Arjun remembered how YRF casting director Shanoo Sharma took him under her wing and assisted him in honing his craft at this point. When he became more physically strong and improved as a performer, Aditya Chopra saw his audition tape. He witnessed an uncut version of Arjun's audition rather than one that had been edited, in which he was being silly and making jokes. The producer was drawn to this and finally, he got the lead role.
