After being resurrected by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the narrative of 17th-century general Lachit Borphukan is being told in a novel named 'Brahmaputra: The Ahom Son Rises (Book 1)' by 'RRR' scriptwriter, film director, and Rajya Sabha MP Vijayendra Prasad.

The famous blockbuster filmmaker, who is also S.S. Rajamouli's father, has partnered with navy officer-turned-espionage fiction writer Kulpreet Yadav to create the novel, which will be published by HarperCollins Publishers India on May 30, 2023.

The plot will be written by Vijayendra Prasad and will begin with Lachit falling in love with Princess Padmini, daughter of Swargadeo Jayadhwaj Singha, monarch of the Ahom empire. When the ruler learns about the romance, he exiles Lachit from the capital, Jorhat.

A few days later, Aurangzeb's soldiers raid the Ahom capital, forcing the king to sign a peace deal in which he cedes part of his realm to the Mughals. The treaty's terms are humiliating for Lachit and his best friend, Prince Chakradhwaj.

Within days, the problems grow when a prince from an Ahoms-aligned state misleads other smaller monarchs and attacks Jorhat. As Lachit and Prince Chakradhwaj defend the city, this fight has the potential to determine the Ahom kingdom's future forever.

Kulpreet Yadav, Prasad's colleague, is a Naval Officers' Academy graduate who has spent two decades in uniform and successfully commanded three ships.
