Jugjugg Jeeyo, starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor, is set to hit theatres in a few days, but it seems that the film has fallen into legal trouble. According to reports, a copyright infringement lawsuit has been filed against the makers of the film. The incident has been investigated by the local Ranchi court and a screening of the film is scheduled right before its release.

Vishal Singh, the Ranchi-based writer stated that Jugjugg Jeeyo’s story is identical to his work Bunny Rani, which he says is copied without giving him any credits. Vishal Singh has not only asked for a stay but has also asked for compensation of 1.5 crores.

Directed by Raj Mehta, Jugjugg Jeeyo is produced both by Viacom 18 studios and Dharma Productions (Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta). The cast of the film seems to be leaving no opportunity to promote their film. While Varun and Kiara were seen promoting the film in Pune recently, Neetu Kapoor and Anil Kapoor were out on the streets of Jaipur to promote their film.

The film will be now screened at the court right before its release, and both sides of the argument will be heard. Judge M C Jha will look into the case and determine whether it’s a violation of copyright.
