Couldn't speak Hindi or dance till I became an actor, says Alaya F

Grand daughter of legendary actor and author Kabir Bedi and daughter of former actress Pooja Bedi, Alaya F is not someone oblivious to B-Town or films. However, it has never been that her life was totally centered around movies.

Alaya, who debuted with the 2020 film Jawaani Jaaneman (which also featured Tabu and Saif Ali Khan), never had dreams of becoming an actor. Rather she always wanted to don the director's hat.

Nevertheless, destiny had other designs and she ended up being an actress, just like her granddad and mom!

Talking about this, Alaya told Pinkvilla: “Everyone kept telling me ‘yeh toh actor banegi‘ (she’ll become an actor). But it was more like, ‘kuch aur nahi hoga, yeh toh actor hi ban jaayegi‘ (she won’t be able to be anything else, she’ll become an actor only). I was like, I was quite good in school, I would go out partying, I’d not study that much but my grades were always good. So I was like, I can actually do whatever I want, people are underestimating me. So I wanted to prove to everyone that I can do whatever I want, I’ll be a director, I still loved the films.”

The young actress further reveals that there was no pressure from her mother or her grandfather to pursue a career in acting. In fact, Alaya admits that she had nothing in her to fit the bill of a conventional Bollywood actress.

"I used to be a terrible dancer, I could not speak Hindi because as I've always spoken English at home. In fact, I was not even such a Bollywood buff," she reveals.

Further emphasizing on the hard work that she had to put in to become an actor, Alaya adds: "But I am someone, if I set my mind on something I will do it to death. I was like, this is my addiction,” she concluded.

On work front, Alaya is looking forward to the release of her upcoming film Freddy, where she stars opposite Kartik Aaryan.
