Deepika Padukone Recalls Meeting Shah Rukh Khan For The First Time
Deepika Padukone who ruled over Bollywood with her remarkable performance in movies like Cocktail (2012), Love Aaj Kal (2009), Ram-Leela (2013), Tamasha, (2015) Padmaavat (2018) and many more recalls her first interaction with Shah Rukh Khan. She made her debut at the young age of 21 with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om (2007), in which she was paired opposite none other than superstar SRK.
The 36-year old actress recently recounted her first meeting with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in an interview with Allure. Deepika admitted to being nervous when sitting at SRK's residence. She said, "I remember just sitting at the edge of the sofa, being so nervous, and almost in a daze. I couldn't even process what was happening. She added, "They never auditioned me. Even today, I look at (the director, Farah Khan) and I'm like, 'What were you guys thinking?'”
Farah had spotted her during one of her modelling campaigns, it's worth noting. Deepika stated her life transformed overnight with the release of Om Shanti Om, and she was offered several opportunities.
The Gehraiyaan (2022) actress revealed that her first chance was practically handed to her on a silver platter. Deepika thought that because she was so well-presented and well-cared for during her first acting project, that's how things will be for her.
"There's parts of it that the director will bring, but there's a lot of it that I need to bring to the table (myself)," the actress remarked, adding that it took her several films to understand that wasn't always the case.
Deepika also revealed that Homi Adajania's 2012 film Cocktail was the spark for her letting go of her inhibitions.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika will be next seen in Pathaan alongside Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. The film is slated to release on 25th January 2023.
