Cocktail (2012) starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty has completed 10 years of its release. The film debuted its way in theatres in 2012 and did commercially well. However, it was Deepika’s character Veronica Malaney that was widely praised and celebrated. In addition to leaving a lasting impression on everyone's hearts, Veronica also succeeded in making Deepika stand out among a stellar supporting cast.

As the movie celebrates its tenth anniversary ,the actress expressed her admiration for the character, which she still finds to be one of her favourites. Deepika said, "I’ve always believed that while you put a little part of yourself in every character you play, you also carry a part of that character with you forever. And therefore, Veronica will always be one of the most special characters I’ve played on screen; one that changed a lot for me professionally and impacted me personally."

She continued by saying how successful Veronica was and how many people resonated with her. She said, "There was something about that character that the audiences empathized with.”

For the unversed, Deepika was given the opportunity to play the role of Meera in the film, but she selected Veronica instead because she thought Meera was similar to her character in Love Aaj Kal (2009). The result of this one choice ultimately changed Deepika's career. The star gave a standout performance that is now regarded as one of her best, leaving a lasting impression.
