In "RHTDM," Madhavan portrays Maddy, a man who falls in love with Reena (Dia Mirza) and begins stalking her and telling her lies by pretending to be Sam (Saif Ali Khan), with whom Reena had been having marriage discussions. After learning the truth, Reena breaks up with Maddy, but she eventually marries Maddy's brother because she truly loves him.

Dia Mirza said in a magazine interview that she would have reservations about the film's depiction of stalking if it were presented to her today. She continues by saying that the movies have contributed to the normalisation of dishonesty.
