Welcome, directed by Anees Bazmee, has been on the big screen for 15 years, but even after a decade and a half, the comedy still makes audiences laugh with its outrageously amusing scenes and stars huge celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, and Feroz Khan. They all still hold their own, whether it's Majnu Bhai Ki Painting with Anil Kapoor or the late Feroz Khan's "RDX Dance" as he plots to kill a victim.

Filmmaker Bazmee had previously stated in an interview that he had always wanted Feroz Khan to play RDX in the movie, but the senior Khan had turned him down more than ten times.

FILMMAKER BAZMEE STATED ABOUT FEROZ KHAN

“I had to persuade Feroz Khan,” the filmmaker recalled in a statement. He further added, “He always had a lot of my support. I believed Feroz Khan saheb was the best candidate to play the big boss to Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor. He didn't want to work on the movie, though. I believe his health was not very good at the time. After I made No Entry with his son Fardeen, I developed a bond with the Khan family. He once called me at two in the morning to say he enjoyed Fardeen's writing in No Entry and that he would want to meet me. I insisted that he make the movie. I visited his home ten to fifteen times, and each time he gently declined.”

Feroz Khan's character wasn't as well developed as some others, according to Bazmee at the time, but he still had hope that Khan would approve the idea at the end, which is what actually happened.

"I think he didn't want to abandon us if his health declined. He provided a different justification for declining the movie each day. But I consistently informed him that he was the right person for the position. He stated, "This role goes against my image," at one point. Sir, I am your biggest fan, I told him. This movie just enhances your reputation. Two days before we were scheduled to depart for Dubai, he finally consented to join, but he then declined. My unit was on its way to Dubai. If he didn't agree, I told him, I'd call everyone back. Then he inquired as to how long it would take. He ultimately changed his mind and flew to Dubai. His scene had also been filmed in Mumbai. Although I don't think I created a particularly compelling character, his presence was necessary to get the desired effect. I can't claim credit for the part; Feroz Khan's outstanding performance was what made it work," according to the director.

FILMMAKER BAZMEE TALKS ABOUT AKSHAY KUMAR

‘Welcome’ had to come to him through the main actor Akshay Kumar, according to Bazmee, who said in the same interview: "It was Akshay's call to do this film honestly. He extended the word ‘Welcome' to me; I did not. One day, he called and requested a meeting. He stated that he particularly liked my 1998 film Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha and that he would like to collaborate with me. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala joined him. At the time, we lacked a narrative but had a hero. I've always thought of Akshay as a total star. He is skilled in acting, comedy, and emotion. I had zero doubts about his ability to pull it off.”

AKSHAY AND BAZMEE

For Hera Pheri 3, Akshay and Bazmee were meant to collaborate, but due to creative differences, Akshay has withdrawn from the project.
