Actor Abhishek Bachchan, the son of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, may possibly get into politics. You did read that correctly.

According to a report in Bharat Samachar, Junior Bachchan is joining Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP) so that he can run for office in the Allahabad constituency. However, neither Abhishek nor the party have made anything formally official.

The news that Abhishek might enter politics has generated a lot of interest, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. The allegations that Rita Joshi, the daughter of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, who was defeated by Amitabh Bachchan, is now a Member of Parliament, are real and anxiously awaited by the public.

Abhishek had stated in a 2013 interview, "My parents have been into politics but I don’t see myself doing it. I might take on a politician’s role on screen but in real life it’s a big no. I will never get into it."

Megastar Bachchan took a hiatus from acting in 1984 to embrace politics in support of Rajiv Gandhi, a longtime family friend. However, his political career was short-lived. He ran for the seat of Allahabad and received more than 68% of the vote, winning the 8th Lok Sabha election.

He did, however, resign from his position in July 1987 after claims of his involvement in the Bofors scandal were made. Big B had previously said that joining politics was an emotional decision, but after getting involved, he realized that emotions had no place there.

On the other hand, until March 2006, Jaya Bachchan served as the SP's representative in the Rajya Sabha after being initially elected as a member of parliament in 2004. She was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha by SP in 2012 for a third term and once more in 2018 for a fourth term.
