The first full-length trailer for Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund is out, and it promises to be an engaging sports drama about the human spirit winning over all odds. The film is directed by acclaimed Marathi filmmaker Nagraj Manjule, who has also helmed films such as Fandry (2014) and Sairat (2016).

The trailer provides an unusual glimpse into Jhund’s life, with Bachchan organizing street youths to establish a football club. He sees potential in them that no one else saw, not even the young people themselves, can see.

There is also a peek of Bachchan's character Vijay delivering a spectacular monologue as he makes the case for his team. The film also informs the viewer that society is equally to blame for the devastation of young people who appear to have nowhere to go. The music by Ajay-Atul in the film is like the cherry on the cake.

Earlier in the day, Big B had teased the trailer launch by sharing a brand new poster of the movie along with the caption, “Aayi yeh toli hai, haath milake Ek hi cheez boli hai. Aaj aayega trailer, bas rehna taiyaar aap!”

Jhund marks the Hindi film debut of Manjule, and also his first collaboration with Big B.

The film is said to be based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of the NGO Slum Soccers. Bachchan plays a professor in the film who takes it upon himself to improve the lives of street children by giving them a focused purpose. He gathers them and motivates them to play football as a team.

Jhund also stars Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru from Sairat in pivotal roles.
