Kriti Sanon speaks on how the budget for women-centric films should be increased
Kriti Sanon who played the protagonist in the film Mimi received praises for her effortlessly convincing and outstanding performance. In a recent interview, the actress spoke of her views regarding films with female protagonists and stated that there have been strong and significant female characters created in the past, citing Mother India and ChaalBaaz as examples. She claimed that there are now more of these characters in modern times.
Additionally, she said that both the supply of actors and the demand for such roles have grown. The actress claimed that regardless of the actor's gender, star status, or other characteristics, the public wants to see outstanding content. Budgets, on the other hand, have not increased, according to Kriti.
The 31-year-old actress believes that there is always room for development when it comes to the budget for movies with female protagonists. “Sometimes we end up making films around female protagonists at a smaller budget because we feel that it’s not going to do as much business. And it also doesn’t end up doing as much business because it is made on a smaller scale,” she said.
The Heropanti actress further added, “That conviction and risk is something which I want to see. I hope it becomes a norm”. If more movies with female leads are produced on a larger scale, the box office will automatically have better business and the issue of gender disparity might also vanish."
Meanwhile, Kriti has films like Ganapath, Bhediya, Adipurush, and Shehzada in her pocket. Reportedly, the actress will also be a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project as the female lead opposite Aditya Roy Kapur.
