Mother's Day is being celebrated around the world today. Mothers, if you ask us, don't need a special day to be honored; they should be honored every day since they are incredible and without them, we wouldn't exist. In a candid interview, Malaika Arora, who is also a single mother to Arhaan Khan, discussed the motherhood challenges she faces.

Malaika Arora has spoken up about how parenthood has changed her life and profession, as well as the 'working mom' guilt she once felt. She spoke about how many told her back then that her pregnancy would kill her career, and how she made a promise to herself to never let that happen.

Malaika recently spoke in an interview about her pregnancy, which happened when her career was only getting started. She recalled, “‘This will end your career!’ is what people said when I was expecting. Back then, after marriage, you’d barely see an actress on screen. But being raised by women who advocated being independent, I knew motherhood just meant I was to essay one more role—the role of mom! I worked through my pregnancy—shuttling shows, & rehearsals. And when Arhaan was born, I promised to give him the world. I also promised myself—I won’t lose my identity in the process of being a mom. Ever since, I’ve lived up to both the promises.”

She added, "2 months after delivery, I performed at an award show. I was proud of myself because I also made it back home in time to tuck Arhaan in bed. Knowing that I could juggle motherhood & work empowered me. In fact, I said yes to Karan for Kaal (2005) Dhamaal (2007) a year after delivery!”

Arhaan Khan is Malaika's son from her ex-husband Arbaaz Khan. He was born in 2002 after Malaika and Arbaaz married in 1998. Arbaaz and Malaika divorced in 2017, yet they still co-parent their kid.
