If you are a movie buff, you must have seen and praised Aamir Khan & Karisma Kapoor starrer 'Raja Hindustani'. The romantic film released in 1996 was an instant hit at the box office and people fell in love with Aamir and Karisma's on-screen chemistry. But did you know that Karisma wasn't the first choice for the film? Instead, the film was initially offered to another leading actress of the 90s. However, things didn't work out as things turned ugly between the actress and director Dharmesh Darshan.

'Raja Hindustani' was initially offered to Juhi Chawla. After working with Juhi in his directorial debut 'Lootere' (1993), Dharmesh wanted to cast her again as the lead in his next, the 1996 romantic film 'Raja Hindustani'. In an interview with Lehren, Dharmesh told that Juhi wasn't convinced with the film's genre and he explained to her by comparing 'Raja Hindustani' to Sooraj Barjatya's 1994 romantic musical 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun!'

Dharmesh told in the interview, “She turned to me and said, ‘But you’re not Sooraj Barjatya.' Something came on to me, I have a big ego and I said, ‘You’re not Madhuri Dixit.' On that little thing, she said no to the film. But she's educated, so next day, she apologised and asked me to see her again."

Dharmesh further told that while he had to meet Juhi that day, he instead went to Karisma Kapoor and narrated the film. Karisma agreed to do the film and thus the opportunity slipped out of Juhi's hands.

Dharmesh also told that Pooja Bhatt and Aishwarya Rai were also considered for the film but things didn't work out!
