Following his massive box office hits like Padmaavat(2018) and Kabir Singh (2019), Shahid Kapoor has finally found his footing in the industry. While one film made more than 300 crores in India alone, another one came close by earning more than 270 crores. Although everything appears to be going well for him, his inconsistent box office performance is preventing him from receiving a well-earned pay raise.

Ishq Vishk, a rom-com from 2003, marked Shahid's successful acting debut. Next year, the actor will complete twenty years in Bollywood, and only recently has he begun to receive the recognition he deserves. He has delivered some great performances, but his commercial success hasn't always been steady; his most recent release is the clearest example of this.

Shahid Kapoor's Jersey (2022) flopped horribly in theatres following the huge box office triumph of Kabir Singh (2019). Although the movie had favourable reviews, only 20.50 crores were collected at the ticket sales. Now, according to the report, the actor has demanded a hike in pay of 5 crores for a movie that he hasn't yet agreed to sign despite the movie’s failure.

For the unversed, Kapoor is said to have demanded a hefty 35 crores for the movie Jersey, and following the failure of the project, many people accused the actor of demanding a large sum while also tripling the budget.

On the work front, Shahid Kapoor will soon be making his OTT debut with Raj and DK’s upcoming web series Farzi.
