Shahid Kapoor has completed 20 years in the entertainment industry and is currently preparing for his forthcoming flick 'Bloody Daddy.' In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor talked about his one and only working relationship with filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, which was for the movie 'Vivah.'

The romance drama from 2006, starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao, is currently regarded as one of the most cherished works in Hindi cinema. Back then, 'Vivah' was quite popular, and owing to social media memes, it also gained a new generation of followers.

Shahid Kapoor revealed, “Half the time, I used to be like ‘What am I doing? What is happening? What is going on? I was a big-city kid. I wasn’t getting half the things that were happening. I was like jal (water)? What is this? And then we were doing songs which were sung in an older man’s voice. I was wondering how I will do this?”

But he made the decision to do as Sooraj Barjatya instructed since he had a great deal of respect for the director. He said, “I just followed it. I said, ‘You tell me what to do and I’ll do it.’ He would tell me ‘Trust me Shahid, just do this’ and I did. I did it with all my honesty."

When ‘Vivah’ was released in 2006, Shahid Kapoor remembered that "a lot of cinema that was doing well was that front-footed college, young, Dharma and Yash Raj." Additionally, the movie represented a total reversal of the era's cinematic norm. The actor claimed that Sooraj made a "very conservative film" that catered to a small group of people and avoided them for the longest time because he understood that was his comfort zone.

The release of Ali Abbas Zafar's film 'Bloody Daddy,' which stars Shahid Kapoor. It will premiere on June 9, 2023 on JioCinema.
