South Indian actor Kichcha Sudeep and Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn recently engaged in a public debate regarding India's national language, which appears to have sparked a lot of discussion on social media. The two actors were able to resolve their issues as quickly as possible, but it left a fundamental question unanswered: 'Is Hindi really India's national language?' In a recent development, actor Sonu Sood, who has worked in both Bollywood and South Indian film, has reacted to the entire controversy.

For the uninitiated, Devgn is gearing up for the release of his upcoming thriller, Runway 34, which also features superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The whole thing started when Kichcha wrote that Hindi is no longer India's national language. As a response, Ajay wrote a short paragraph disputing his statement and pointing out that most south Indian films are dubbed in Hindi to appeal to a larger audience. He concluded the note by stressing that Hindi was and would continue to be the country's official language.

Kichcha Sudeep and Ajay Devgn eventually put their differences aside and agreed that the tone and intent of the translation had been lost. Several celebrities have been asked to speak on the matter, and actor Sonu Sood is the most recent to do so.

In an interview, he said, “I don’t think Hindi can be called just the national language. India has one language, which is entertainment. It doesn’t really matter which industry you belong to. If you entertain people, they will love you, honour you and accept you. Only good cinema will be accepted.”

In response to the popularity of south Indian films such as RRR (2022) and KGF: Chapter 2 (2022), Sonu Sood believes that south films will "change the way Hindi films are made."
