Sultan’, starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma, was released on this day seven years ago. The sports drama, which was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, not only depicted the journey of wrestlers but also the difficulties that might arise in a relationship due to insecurity. While Salman received praise for his depiction of the highs and lows of a sportsman, Anushka astounded everyone with her dynamic performance. She was excellent at playing both a wrestler and a strong, independent woman. The actor admitted that she was initially anxious about the movie before she heard the narration since she wasn't sure what her role would be in a "Salman Khan film."

Anushka was questioned about ‘Sultan's’ film in an interview at the time of its promotion. “Honestly, I didn’t know what kind of a film it would be before I got the script. And like we all think, I too thought of a Salman Khan film… kya hoga, what would I have to do. I was actually scared and was hoping that Adi (Aditya Chopra) would send me something nice,” she said in an interview.

She continued, saying she was optimistic because Aditya Chopra has known her the longest. She was delighted when Ali told her the story of the play. “Apart from the role, I was really happy with the journey of the film emotionally. After the narration, I spoke deeply about the film with Ali, and its relevance in life. That’s the magic of cinema that we continue to talk about the film.”

Anushka also described how admiration for her role and the positions she takes in life came from individuals, particularly women. The actor recalled hearing how some "posh aunties" started applauding when she spoke in a cinema. “So every woman of all age groups and society is connected with it,” she added.

The audience enjoyed the actor's comments on the chemistry he had with Salman Khan. She gave Ali credit for developing an incredible relationship between them on paper. “It is a simple and rooted chemistry. It’s also high on emotions. Even when they are not together, you feel emotional towards their love story. It also got to do with the fact that there’s something charming about Salman on screen. It adds to everything. They both are so different and because of that, the chemistry works.”
