Gangubai Kathiawadi stands tall on the 9th Day of Box Office, beats competition from Hollywood and South
Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) is currently ruling at the box office. Fans are raving about Alia Bhatt’s performance in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. On 25th February, Gangubai Kathiawadi was released in theatres, and it created a big stir at the box office on its first day itself. On the first day, the film garnered Rs 10.50 crore at the box office, despite facing strong competition from Valimai (2022) and Bheemla Nayak (2022). Within a week of its release, the film had collected a worldwide gross of Rs 100 crore.
On Saturday, the film earned an additional 8.20 crores, a significant increase above the 5.01 crores it had earned on Friday. As a result, the film has now surpassed the 80 crore mark, earning 82.14 crores. With a further boost on the way today, the Alia Bhatt film is almost guaranteed to surpass the 90 crore barrier, besides competition from The Batman (2022) and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund (2022).
The biographical crime drama Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on the novel Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi. Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Varun Kapoor, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Seema Pahwa all play key roles in the film.
The film revolves around the life of Ganga, who is convinced to leave the countryside for Mumbai by her lover Ramnik, who promises her a future in the film industry. Her film career ambitions come tumbling down in Mumbai, and she is drawn into prostitution and underworld.
