Kamal Hassan's record-breaking hit Vikram has added yet another feather to its already adorned hat. The film has emerged as the all-time biggest hit in the state of Tamil Nadu, breaking the previous record of the Baahubali 2 (2017) which had collected over Rs 146 crore.

The film is well on its way to crossing the Rs 150 crore benchmark today in the southern state. Early trends further indicate that the film will breach the Rs 175 crore mark comfortably in days to come.

Interestingly, while Baahubali 2 continues to be the number one south Indian grosser in the northern belt, it has lost the coveted spot in all the southern states.

For instance, Baahubali 2 was never the top grosser in the state of Kerala. In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, RRR (2022) had replaced Baahubali 2 as the biggest grosser while in Karnataka Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2 (2022) broke the record of the SS Rajamouli directorial.

Now coming to Vikram, the film is a spiritual successor of the 1986 film with the same name, also starring Kamal Hassan.

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Vikram stars Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil.

Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, and Chemban Vinod Jose play supporting roles while Suriya makes a cameo appearance.

Made on a budget of Rs 120 crore, Vikram has minted around Rs 285 crore in just nine days of release.
