According to Variety, a TV version of the heated trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will be produced. The new film, Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial, will debut only on the Tubi streaming platform. In the movie, Mark Hapka portrays Johnny Depp, and Megan Davis plays Amber Heard, the actor's ex-wife.

The movie will supposedly have its premiere on September 30 and also stars Mary Carrig from Law & Order: True Crime as Elaine Bredehoft, Heard's attorney, and Melissa Marty from Station 19 as Depp's attorney Camille Vasquez. Depp and Heard's turbulent relationship will be followed in the movie as it dramatizes their two-month defamation trial, which ended on June 1. According to the jury's decision in the trial, Heard was guilty of defamation for her op-ed article from December 2018. The jury also found Depp culpable for his lawyer's slanderous remarks regarding Heard.

After the trial, Johnny Depp has been working hard to resume his Hollywood career, which was put on hold after his ex-wife accused him of using domestic violence. After almost 25 years, the actor, who has already collaborated on a music CD with Jeff Beck, is slated to direct a movie that Al Pacino will produce.

Amber Heard after trial

As for Amber Heard, the actress stated after Depp's trial victory, "I'm devastated that despite the overwhelming proof, my ex-disproportionate husband's power, influence, and sway could not be overcome. I'm even more unhappy with what this ruling means for other women."
