Chris Hemsworth remembers how his younger brother Liam was almost cast as Thor says, ‘My audition sucked’
Chris Hemsworth has been everywhere promoting his most recent Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. by developing into the sole Avenger with a solo franchise of four movies. All is under Chris' control. The Taika Waititi-directed movie explores Thor's midlife crisis and the chance of a rekindled romance with Jane Foster, his ex-girlfriend who now carries his mighty hammer, Mjolnir.
The 38-year-old actor made the revelation while promoting the newest installment of the series, "Thor: Love and Thunder." Liam was very nearly cast as the Mjolnir-swinging character. He said, "My little brother [Liam Hemsworth] almost got cast as Thor. He was one of the first people who got right down to the wire on getting the part, so I don’t know… I could cross paths with him. That would be fun." Chris remembered that after his initial audition for the part, he did not receive a call-back. He claimed that his audition sucked.
Further elaborating, the actor said, "They were like, 'Look, he's great, but he's a bit young.' My manager then said, 'Well, he does have an older brother,' which was me, and then I came back in, re-auditioned a few times, and just had a different attitude."
While Chris and Liam's older brother Luke has undoubtedly lived the dream, Liam's Thor may be an unrealistic fantasy. Luke Hemsworth reprised his role as the theatrical spoof of Thor in the recently released movie, and he even appeared in an advertisement as that persona.
