New The Matrix Resurrections poster out; shows Neo reuniting with Trinity
On Wednesday, Warner Bros. dropped a new poster for The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth film in the iconic sci-fi series. The poster puts both fresh and familiar faces front and center.
Sharing the new poster via its official Twitter handle, Warner Bros. wrote, “Step back into the Matrix with this new poster for The Matrix Resurrections. Watch it in theaters and on HBO Max this Christmas.”
As mentioned above, Resurrections is the fourth film in the franchise which comes 18 years after the release of the sequels The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003), and 22 years after its launch with The Matrix (1999).
While there is still a lot of mystery surrounding the plot of The Matrix Resurrections, the new poster does offer us a clear look at Keanu Reeves’ Neo sporting a look similar to that he had when he entered The Matrix back in the original trilogy.
The film is set 20 years after the events of Revolutions, and finds Neo (Keanu Reeves) living a seemingly ordinary life. Neither he nor Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) recognize each other.
The film is described, “From visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski comes The Matrix Resurrections, the long-awaited fourth film in the ground-breaking franchise that redefined a genre. The new film reunites original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the iconic roles they made famous, Neo and Trinity.”
Wachowski has also produced the upcoming film with Grant Hill and James McTeigue. Bruce Berman, Jesse Ehrman, Garrett Grant, Terry Needham, and Michael Salven are attached as executive producers.
The film also features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
The Matrix Resurrections officially hits theaters and HBO Max on December 22, 2021.
