The Royal family released a statement on September 8 confirming Queen Elizabeth II's passing. At Scotland's Balmoral Castle, the 96-year-old monarch passed away. On Thursday, after doctors first expressed worries about the Queen's health, members of the Royal family flocked to her side. Also arriving in Scotland was Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid a solemn tribute to the Queen through their Archewell charity, despite Meghan Markle not traveling with Prince Harry to Balmoral. Except for a message dedicated to the Queen, the website was stripped of all other information about the foundation and its upcoming activities and changed to an all-black main page. The website displays a message in a white font that reads, "In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II," followed by the monarch's birth and demise dates.

Prince Charles' new title was also confirmed by a statement, "The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow." Buckingham Palace first broke the tragic news on their social media accounts on Thursday afternoon, writing, "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon."

Following the passing of the Queen on Friday, King Charles III is prepared to make a televised speech. The King will deliver this address publicly for the first time since ascending to the throne. Prince William and Kate Middleton's titles have also been altered to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge in light of the Queen's demise, according to an update on their social media accounts.
