The Batman sequel has been announced, with Robert Pattinson reprising his role as the caped crusader. Warner Bros. confirmed the big news at CinemaCon 2022, confirming that the sequel will have Matt Reeves come back as the writer and director for the follow-up after the victory of the first, which became the highest-grossing film of the year at the US box office.

The Batman was well received by audiences, who applauded Pattinson for his grim portrayal of the dark knight. The film depicted Bruce Wayne as a young man and as someone who is just starting out as a superhero in Gotham. The film also included a post-credits scene starring Barry Keoghan as the Joker, but it has yet to be confirmed whether the movie's upcoming sequel will continue with that plotline. The cast of Batman included Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Jeffrey Wright as Gotham City police chief James Gordon.

During the CinemaCon event, Matt Reeves made a guest appearance and spoke about the sequel as well as thanking fans for their support for the first one. "This is thrilling for me," he said of The Batman's next chapter, adding that he is "excited" to return to the world for the sequel.

While the director did not provide any additional insight into future spinoffs, fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out who Pattinson's Batman will face in the upcoming film.
