We all are die-hard fans of action films or films which have action sequences with guns, fire, blasts, or weapons involved. There is a thrill and excitement that you automatically feel inside you when the actors or artists use unique guns or weapons during their scenes. It is what makes you intrigued and hooked to the screen. But there is a lot that goes on to make these guns look realistic. To know more about it, BollywoodMDB spoke exclusively to Gun expert, Vishal Tyagi who has been the gunman for Bollywood for quite a long time.

Vishal speaks about guns used in films like Sholay & Kasam

Talking about the types of guns that were used in old films, he revealed, “The journey is like when you could see in the old films like Sholay, rail guns were used a lot. But there was too much of a risk of an accident which is why we started giving blind firing guns. So, my dad had made a gun for the film Kasam in the 80s, which we call the LMG, he had fitted an electronic system in the gun and gave it. This made it easy for the actor to carry guns while running, or riding a horse, or driving.”

Guns imported from foreign countries after demand increased

Vishal said that as the demand for guns started increasing, we started exporting guns from Bulgaria, Germany, and London. He also spoke about the Glock 17 model guns which are used by police & military. The model basically does blind firing, it cannot fire a real bullet so we have inserted an electronic bullet at the lead part which makes it look like tits hit the person & blood too comes out of it. It is all done because they also have to take care of the originality.

Beginning of production of such guns

“The production of guns began somewhere around 1785. So, if you look at our warehouse, we have all the guns starting from that time including M4 OR mp5. We have all the models available to us. We ourselves manufacture all these guns and install an electronic system inside them.”

Vishal on guns used in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Salman’s Tiger

“The very latest model for M4 is now available which is also used in Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest upcoming action film, Jawan. We also have guns which Salman used in the climax scene of his film Tiger Zinda Hai where he shoots his bullet at trucks and cars.”

Guns are actually heavier for the actors to carry

Talking about the guns being actually heavier, he said, “We have to actually make the guns heavier for the actor because when he holds the gun he should get the feel of holding it and firing.”
