Aamir Khan brings up the Waste free Jodhpur Campaign

Aamir Khan launched the cleanliness drive called Waste free Jodhpur Campaign for the urban city, Jodhpur.

Aamir Khan is a keen promoter of various social awareness campaigns, his acclaimed serial 'Satyameva Jayate' has contributed in changing the mindsets of number of people. In one of its episode Aamir and his team took up the environmnetal issue of Waste management and this gave wings to the noteworthy project called "Waste free Jodhpur Campaign".

On the eve of Independence Day, Aamir launched the Waste free Jodhpur Campaign in collaboration to Jodhpur city at the Umaid Singh Stadium. He considers waste accumulation as one of the biggest menace of urban India. He is happy with Jodhpur's initiative of taking up cleanliness drive, also he expressed his desire to launch such campaign in Mumbai and in other cities too. Recalling the waste management episode, he said that it changed his outlook towards the trash as he started looking waste as an asset. With his unconditional support, he also donated 11 lakhs rupees to this noble cause, reportedly.

Waste free Jodhpur campaign has set a target to make the city free from garbage in 18 months. He also administered a pledge of clean and green Jodhpur to the audience and flagged off the fleet of battery operated rickshaws, which will go the wards of the city and collect the garbage. This initiative is only possible if Jodhpur Municipal Corporation, social organisations of the city, restaurant and food outlet owners and the common man join together to fulfill the set goal.
