Deepika Padukone is on cloud nine these days as her recent release, Padmaavat , has been welcomed by the audience with open arms. Also starring Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh , the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial hit screens on 25th January and has been doing exceptional business at the box office ever since. Now, Deepika is gearing up to start his next project with acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj . Tentatively titled Sapna Didi, the film is a biopic on a Mafia queen of the same name. Talking about the film, Deepika recently admitted that she pursued Bhardwaj to make the movie.
“Of all the scripts I have heard in the last two years, I’ve been stuck on this one. He (Vishal Bhardwaj) brought this to me first, got me excited and then when I was ready to do it, he had moved on to something else. But, I persisted. It’s the one occasion where I pursued the director to make the film,” she said to an entertainment portal.
The biopic also stars Irrfan Khan who Deepika has worked with in Shoojit Sircar ’s Piku . On working with him again, the actress said, “He’s witty, smart and intelligent. I’m glad I’ll be bouncing my ideas off someone who’s a master at what he does. For an actor, that’s going to be challenging but also exciting.”
