Bankrolled by Boney Kapoor, the the Kollywood remake of hit Hindi film Badhaai Ho is set to release on June 17 this year. Titled as Veetla Vishesham, RJ Balaji will be seen stepping into Ayushmann Khurranna’s role, while actors Sathyaraj and Urvashi will play the role of Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta's character respectively. Ahead of its release, RJ Balaji revealed making a few major changes in the Tamil remake because, ‘sensibilities of the state is different than what it is in North.’

RJ Balaji said, “Badhaai Ho is a very good film but you cannot just translate the film totally into the other language, you have to remake the film. The sensibilities of the state are different from what it is in the North. Second thing, there are certain things in the film which personally, as a filmmaker (co-writer and co-director) I don’t agree upon. For eg, the mother character in Badhaai Ho says abortion is a sin but to me, it is pro-choice. I don’t believe abortion is a sin and since I don’t believe that, I had to change that in the remake. Likewise, certain things from the film, we had to change for the Tamil version. And I think, it has come out well.”

The film is bankrolled under the production banner of Bayview Projects LLP. RJ Balaji has penned the script and co-directed with NJ Saravanan.
