Suriya starrer Etharkkum Thunindhavan to get a sequel?
Suriya makes a powerful comeback to mainstream cinema with his latest film Etharkkum Thunindhavan (2022), after his past two films were distributed straight on OTT platforms. The Suriya starrer was released in theatres yesterday, and received great reviews on the first day itself. Suriya plays the part of Kannabiran, a lawyer in the intense social drama, in which he advocates against women's assault. Because the film sends a powerful message and concludes with a hint about Kannabiran's future assignment. It has sparked talk about a sequel to Etharkkum Thunindhavan, and fans have already begun speculating about it.
However, it appears that the filmmakers have yet to decide on a sequel. Pandiraj has handled a serious subject of sexual harassment against women with the help of Suriya, and the pairing of the two has boosted the film.
Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan is a well-intentioned story based on the real-life Pollachi sexual-assault case that gets a lot of things right by commercial film standards. Apart from being highly emotive, it fails to be more reasonable when it comes to dealing with the issue of sexual assault. At the same time, the film emphasizes the importance of victims of rape boldly coming forward and speaking up, as evidenced by Priyanka Arul Mohan's performance in a pivotal sequence.
Suriya and Priyanka Arul Mohan star in Etharkkum Thunindhavan, which also has Sathyaraj, Soori, Vinay, Saran, and Saranya Ponvannan in prominent roles. The film was produced by Sun Pictures and distributed in five languages with over 900 theatres globally. D Imman composed the soundtrack.
