In 2002, Ram Pothineni made his acting debut in the short film Adayaalam, hoping to break into the Tamil film industry. However, he established himself in the Telugu film industry with Devadasu, earning him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut - South. Ram Pothineni plays a cop for the first time in his career in the upcoming movie The Warriorr.

In an interview, Ram was asked what intrigued him most from the story. To which he replied, “From the surface, every story looks just like a hero versus a villain. But each story will have a soul. In Warrior, why the protagonist wants to become a police officer and what he does after achieving his goal form the main crux of the story. I liked that emotional core. Director Lingusamy wrote the story inspired by the lives of real police officers.”

The iSmart Shankar actor further spoke on his collaboration with director N. Lingusamy who hasn’t had any big hits in recent times. He said, “Directors like Puri Jagannadh and Lingusamy are gems. Their stories may not be connected well in discussions, but we can see their brilliance in their work. If the right script comes under the right roof, the result will be outstanding. Lingusamy and I connected well and got excited with the Warrior script.”

Directed by N. Lingusamy, The Warrior also stars Krithi Shetty and Akshara Gowda in lead roles. The film is slated to release in theatres on July 14.
