Naagin 6 fame Mahek Chahal loses Rs 49,000 after falling for an online fraud
Naagin 6 actress Mahekk Chahal recently went through a terrible experience. The actress fell victim to online fraud and lost a sizable sum of money. On July 12, Mahekk Chahal was the victim of online payment scam and lost Rs. 49,000 altogether. She went to Bandra Police Station to file a complaint, and the police station's cyber unit filed a FIR against the suspects.
The Wanted (2009) actress revealed to a portal, “While checking the internet regarding a courier service to send a parcel to Gurugram, I came across a number and called the concerned person.”
“He claimed to be affiliated with a popular courier service company. He said that he would assist me and asked me to visit a website and complete the registration by transferring ` 10 on the website. He asked me about my mode of payment, and I told him that I was using Google Pay. However, when I tried to make the payment via Google Pay, it didn’t go through,” she added.
Chahal continued by stating that money was transferred out of her account and that a notification alerted her of the transaction. She immediately dialled the bank and had all of her accounts and cards frozen.
The 43-year-old actress said that she is ‘quite shaken by the incident’ calling the internet a scary place. When discussing the police report, she revealed that the cyber division of the police station handled the issue very immediately and was quite helpful.
