Over the past few months, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has received a lot of unfavorable press. While Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal accused producer Asit Kumarr Modi of sexual harassment, actor Shailesh Lodha, who played Taarak Mehta, quit the program and accused the producers of failing to pay his dues. Priya Ahuja, who played Rita Reporter in the program, also talked about the harassment she faced on the ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ sets when Jennifer Baniswal, who played Mrs. Sodhi, made shocking accusations. Priya Ahuja is unhappy since the producers have now hired a new Rita Reporter.

Priya Ahuja claimed in an interview with Etimes that she repeatedly tried to contact the producers to find out if she was still a part of it or not but got no response. Priya said that she was unaware that she would be replaced on the show and that no one from the crew contacted her to inform her that she was no longer a part of 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'. Asit Kumarr Modi and Sohil Ramani were mentioned in a message she sent to them in May, in which she even criticized their lack of professionalism. Later, she acknowledged that she is not a cast member. Priya Ahuja admitted that she is definitely upset when it comes to selecting a successor for her role.
She stated: "Of course, it is very heartbreaking. I am extremely hurt by the behaviour. They could have kept the basic respect by changing the character name or else at least by acknowledging my message. Priya Ahuja added that she was immediately fired from ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ when her husband, Malav Rajda, left the program. She asserted that the team had not spoken to her in the previous eight months. She continued by saying she wasn't surprised and wouldn't be if Asit Kumarr Modi and crew gave Rita Reporter an even greater and more important role this time.
