‘I like characters that stand for something:’ Shriya Pilgaonkar on her character in The Broken News
Shriya Pilgaonkar will soon be seen in ZEE5’s The Broken News after receiving rave reviews for her outstanding performance as Advocate Kashaf Quaze in Amazon Prime's Guilty Minds (2022).
Following the success of the courtroom drama, the Mirzapur (2018) actress will play a news reporter in her next The Broken News, which is based on the world of journalism. She will be seen alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Sonali Bendre on screen.
Shriya recently opened up on her character from the show. Shedding light on her role in the series, she said, "My character Radha Bhargava is interesting and complex. To me, she is the mind of the viewer. I like characters that stand for something. She is a news producer, news anchor, and also an investigative journalist.”
She went on to explain her character's motives and dimensions, "While she wants to bring out the stories that she strongly feels about, she's also aware that she needs a powerful way of reaching out to the viewers. She is rebellious, brave, and will do whatever it takes to get the job done,” she added.
The Broken News centers around two rival news networks and depicts the lives, lies, love, and problems of a diverse group of journalists. The series will premiere on ZEE5 on June 10 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
