Monica Chauudhary talks about her physical transformation and says, ‘Now I understand the trauma of being fat or thin shamed'
Actress Monica Chauudhary, who can be seen in series like Apharan, Rudrakaal, and the movie Radhe, believes in going above and beyond to live up to her on-screen personas. Recently, the actress spoke about gaining 20 kilograms for her role in the web series Salt City.
The actress shared, “When the role of Ela in Salt City came to me, I was extremely happy as I was offered to work with some of the finest actors including Piyush (Mishra) sir. But the twist was that I being 50 kg, was asked to add on 20 kgs to get the correct look. My character was on a healthier side and consequently was a complex soul due to the frequent body shaming instances she faces. It’s when you get to play such roles that one understands the trauma of being fat or thin shamed.”
The Dark 7 White actor, who underwent a tough metamorphosis, is pleased with the level of acclaim she received after her release. “Work is happening and I am happily doing what is coming my way. Being a newbie, I came to Mumbai to fulfill a dream of becoming a recognized actor. I very well understand that if I’ll not make that extra effort and prove my mettle then I won’t be able to raise the bar as a performer. This I have imbibed from my theatre days to give my all to the craft.”
Talking about her work experience with the entire cast of Salt City, she says, "Working with an ensemble always gives you a lot to learn because every actor works using their own noteworthy style and method. And I'm that curious student who is looking to learn from everyone. I have been extremely fortunate that I have acted alongside some brilliant performers."
