Following the failure of his historical drama Samrat Prithviraj (2022), Akshay Kumar will soon be seen in the Hindi remake of superstar Suriya's critically acclaimed Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020). Earlier, industry insiders claimed that the Hindi version of Akshay Kumar's Soorarai Pottru will be titled Startup.
On the other hand, the film's producer, Vikram Malhotra, refuted the news, saying, "No title confirmed yet." While Malhotra did not specifically dispute the title, many film industry sources have stated that the film's title would be different and that the producers are still working on a suitable title.
Sudha Kongara, who directed the original film, will direct the remake. In the film, Akshay will be seen alongside Radhika Madan. The film's first poster was shared on social media by its makers. Suriya, Jyotika, and Vikram Malhotra are backing the project.
The original film's plot revolved around a small-town man who dreams of establishing his own airline. This ex-airforce pilot defies the odds to pursue his passion, and in the process, he embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime business journey.
The Tamil drama starring Suriya was released on OTT platforms in 2020 to critical acclaim and admiration. Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, and Paresh Rawal played the lead roles in the film.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar will also be seen in Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan and Selfiee.
