Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan I hit 250 crores at the box office in just four days.
The movie performed exceptionally well on Monday, registering a double-digit number in the state of Tamil Nadu alone. According to sources, the movie is anticipated to have made an additional Rs. 1.25 crore in Hindi markets, bringing its total Hindi earnings to close to Rs. 9 crores. The movie could earn roughly Rs 12 crore in its first week and Rs 18 crore overall in the Hindi market.
In Tamil Nadu, however, it's an entirely different situation. The movie has already outperformed important Tamil films like Kamal Haasan's Vikram and Ajith's Valimai. PS: According to official reports, it made Rs 80 crore globally on its opening day and Rs 200 crore globally over its opening weekend. During the first three days of my US sales, I made $4.1 million. After two films starring Rajinikanth, 2.0, and Kabali, it is the third-fastest Tamil movie to reach the Rs 200 crore mark. The movie has surpassed the Rs 250 crore mark globally in just four days, according to trade analysts.
The first chapter of Ponniyin Selvan portrays Mani Ratnam's amazing magic. The movie is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's finest historical fiction book of the same name. At the height of Chola's power in the eleventh century, the narrative takes place. Ponniyin Selvan features romance, peril, and a power struggle over the king's succession.
