A joint venture of the four big names in the Bollywood ' Bombay Talkies ' faced a tough competition from another release of yesterday, John Abraham starer crime thriller ' Shootout At Wadala '. ' Bombay Talkies ' finished at the second place at the box office. The film contains four short stories directed by Karan Johar , Dibakar Banerjee , Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap . The film is the eulogy and is said to be the tribute to the Indian cinema for completing its 100 years. But due to its niche content, the film failed to grab the attention of all types of viewers and this affected in the box office collection.

Despite having a high decibel publicity and good remarks from the critics, the film could not overcome the tough competition given by ' Shootout At Wadala '. The film has big names like Rani Mukherjee , Randeep Hooda , Nawazuddin Siddiqui and newcomers like Naman Jain and Saqib Saleem . The film also had cameos of big stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif . Although, this could not help much to ' Bombay Talkies ' in attracting a huge number of audience at the theatres. While, ' Shootout At Wadala ' started well on the first day of its release, ' Bombay Talkies ' is reported to have collected not more than 5 cr on its first day.

The other release of yesterday was ' Chhota Bheem and the throne of Bali ' which is an animated film. The film is a summer treat for the kiddos and finished third in the box office race. It also has a niche content and is expected to grow on the weekends.
