Fellow celebs showed their excitement for the sequel, among which Bollywood starlets Kiara Advani and Sonam Kapoor dropped a like on the post. Sandler shared the identical photo with the same text on his Instagram account.
The first part of Murder Mystery came out in 2019 and it became a huge hit on Netflix with 30.9 million households watching it on the first weekend, making it the highest opening weekend for a Netflix movie at the time. Now Netflix wants to do it all over again.
The story follows the path of Nick, a New York officer, and his wife Audrey go on a European vacation to revive their marriage, but a chance encounter leads to them being suspected of the murder of an elderly businessman.
After the 2011 romantic comedy Just Go With It (2011), this is Aniston and Sandler's second collaboration. With the sequel, the two friends are making their third picture together.
Jeremy Garelick (who wrote popular movies including The Hangover (2009) and The Break-Up (2006)) will helm Murder Mystery 2, despite the fact that little information has been published thus far. The sequel's screenplay is being written by James Vanderbilt, who also authored the previous film's screenplay, and stars Adeel Akhtar and John Kani will reprise their roles alongside Aniston and Sandler.
