For the Netflix adaptation of Roald Dahl book The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, American filmmaker Wes Anderson is onboard to helm the project. Benedict Cumberbatch will be in the lead role of Henry Sugar while the film also features Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, and Ben Kingsley.
“The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More” is a collection of seven short stories crafted by British author Dahl. The book was first published in 1977. The story poses the question of “If you could see with your eyes closed…would you use your power for good or for personal gain?” reports a publication.
Netflix acquired the Roald Dahl Story Company in September 2021, where they announced plans for the development of an extensive universe of animated and live-action film and television projects. Some of the greatest stories like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be adapted into series. Apart from the series and films, the company will also produce games, immersive experiences, live theater and consumer products.
This project will be the second work of Wes Anderson with the work of Roald Dahl. He earlier worked on The Fantastic Mr. Fox, a stop-motion film in 2009. Benedict Cumberbatch is also known for his popular work in Sherlock Holmes, a series based on an intelligent private detective and Dr. Strange from Marvel Cinematic Universe.
