If anything that immensely connects the whole India, then that surely is the sport of Cricket. More than a billion hearts come together when the sport is on television. One of the greatest moments that the sport of Cricket gave to all Indians is the 1983 World Cup win, which was headed by legendary, Kapil Dev . And now, after 36 long years, director Kabir Khan will bring the great Indian victory on the big screen in 2019, where Ranveer Singh will be seen filling the shoes of the then captain, Kapil Dev. Well, we all are aware that the film is in the making but now, it has an official release date. Helmed by Kabir Khan , the film is titled, 83 ’, and will hit the big screen on 30th August 2019. As the film will be backed by Reliance Entertainment, they revealed the news by tweeting, “Mark your calendar! ‘83 will be releasing on August 30, 2019. ‘83 stars @RanveerOfficial. Directed by @kabirkhankk. @FuhSePhantom @83_thefilm”
Earlier, director Kabir Khan said, “As a young schoolboy when I watched India win the 1983 Cricket World Cup I had no idea that from that day onwards Cricket in India will change forever. As a filmmaker, for me, the journey to that win, filled with raw energy and sheer passion of that young Indian team, is probably one of the most exciting stories I have worked on. And it’s great to have Ranveer come on board to play Kapil Dev, as honestly, I could see no one else for the role, ever since I started finalizing the script.”
Well, as the movie is sports biographical film, it will be less focused on any female leads and will emphasize more on other players (other male actors) who contributed to the great victory.
Jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment and Phantom films, any confirmation about the other star cast is still awaited.
