Filmmaker Karan Johar has a bunch of films in his backpack, but the most-awaited one is Kalank . After all, it was his late father’s project which he has taken further. The film is set during the times of India-Pakistan partition, and Karan is leaving no stones unturned to make the film look authentic and real. To achieve that, a huge set has been erected in Mumbai city replicating the Old Delhi and Karan has, reportedly, invested a mammoth amount of 15 crores on it.
Talking about it, a source informed a leading portal, "A huge set has been erected in Film City, which is under heavy security to ensure that pictures of the interiors are not leaked. They are also taking extra measures to keep the look of the cast under wraps."
Spilling out further details, the source added, "Karan got Amrita Mahal Nakai to work on the set’s design and structure. They have created an old Delhi mohalla with a Mahal, where filming is currently on. Kalank is set against the backdrop of the Partition. Since it’s based in the 1940s, the set has been designed keeping that particular period in mind."
The film has an ensemble star cast that includes Sanjay Dutt , Madhuri Dixit , Alia Bhatt , Varun Dhawan , Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha . Jointly made under the banner of Karan and Sajid Nadiadwala ’s home production, the film is being helmed by Abhishek Varman and will hit the screens on 19th April 2019.
