Before the release of ' 3 Idiots ' Aamir Khan had applied a unique way to promote his film. And it had worked! Not because of the unique style of promotion but because the film was good.
The makers of ' OMG Oh My God! ' are also inspired to promote their film in unique way. Now Akshay Kumar , who plays the role of God as Krishna Vasudev Yadav, would be piggybacking on the super success of his contemporary Salman Khan 's Ek Tha Tiger , to promote this film. He would be placing donation boxes - similar to the ones you see in temples - at two multiplexes in the city. And you can read on the boxes written as - 'Have you bribed God today?'
Vikram Malhotra, who is the COO of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures clarifies it by saying, "OMG is a film with mass appeal. It is for people who believe in God and those who don't. So we decided to engage the audience in a manner that is thought-provoking. We placed these (donation boxes) so that people can go back with the message - 'Aren't you really bribing God to get a wish fulfilled?' A wish could range from good exam scores to college admissions to marriages. Donation and prayers are offered with an objective rather than solely out of devotion. That is one of the things that the film addresses."
Apart from Akshay Kumar , ' OMG Oh My God! ' stars Paresh Rawal and Mithun Chakraborty . Umesh Shukla has written and directed it which would be released on 28th September this year.
But the big question is: If the script of the film would not be good; would such promotion help? Hope its script is as good as its promotion style because the script of ' 3 Idiots ' was extremely good, which was the reason why its unique promotion strategy worked!
