Rajamouli shares his reaction on the response received to his film RRR in the West

The film's director, S. S. Rajamouli, spoke candidly about the response the film received in the west and how it came off as a little unexpected at first. The filmmaker commented during his appearance on Seth Meyers' show saying, “Not even close to being exciting enough. The world belongs to us. I mostly create films for Indians both in India and around the world. Our original assumption when we began to receive praise from the west was that these men must be the friends of our Indians who went to see the movie."

The director further continued, "It then began to grow as more and more famous people, authors, and film directors began discussing it on social media and tweeting about it. As word spread, they began promoting the movie. We acknowledged that the situation was intensifying. Following its Netflix release, it spent 15 weeks straight in the top 10 lists. In Japan, it was first broadcast, and it is continuing on. It has earned the most money in Japan for any Indian movie.”
