Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Puri Jagannadh was poorly received by critics and fared badly at the box office. The movie teasers and trailers created a lot of interest not only in the Telugu-speaking areas but also throughout all of India. Standing ovations greeted the film's premiere, giving Vijay his best opening to date. Since it didn't live up to reviewers' and fans' expectations, the film swiftly lost its momentum. While recently attending the SIIMA Awards, Vijay Deverakonda broke down in tears over the failure of his Bollywood debut, Liger. Vijay has appeared in public far less frequently since then due to unfavorable fan feedback. With a few exceptions, he has stayed away from social media generally.

The film which was an action entertainer was released on August 25 in theatres but failed to stay there for long. Ronit Roy and Ramya Krishnan played a pivotal role in the film as well.
