Yash Raj Films, one of the leading film production houses in India, is set to foray into the digital space soon. And if fresh reports are to be believed, producer Aditya Chopra has greenlighted the first streaming show to be made under YRF Entertainment, the digital arm of Yash Raj Films. The YRF head honcho has even allotted a whopping ₹100 crores for the production of the yet-to-be-titled project.
According to reports, a team at YRF has been working on the upcoming project for over a year now. The script as well as the cast of the project have already been finalised.
Sharing more details, a source informs that the makers are being tight-lipped about the nature of the project and the series could roll as early as next month.
The source adds that usually, Indian streaming shows are made on a budget of ₹2 to ₹5 crore per episode. Netflix’s Sacred Games (2018), starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is said to be the most expensive streaming shows made in India. Reportedly, it was made on a budget of ₹75 crore for the first season and ₹90 crore for the second.
With YRF joining the digital market, the audience can expect a bunch of great shows in times to come. By investing ₹100 crore in its maiden project, the production house will only raise the stakes in the market.
More details are expected to arrive soon.
