Huma Qureshi applauds Tamil and Telugu cinema saying ‘their films don’t talk down to their audience’

Huma Qureshi who debuted with Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012 has completed 10 years in the industry. Apart from Bollywood, actress Huma Qureshi has acted in two Tamil movies: Ajith's Valimai in 2022 and Rajinikanth's Kaala in 2018. Recently, the actress discussed her experience working in the South Indian film industry and commended them for setting new standards with their works. She expressed pleasure about recent increases in the number of bilingual films and pan-Indian films. The actor also expressed her opinion that Tamil and Telugu movies don't speak down to their viewers.

Huma said, "People have realized that there is a lot to learn from them. Industries like Tamil and Telugu are not talking down to their audience. In fact, they are pushing their boundaries. The stories are contextual, they pride themselves in the cultural references, they are personalized, nuanced, and have a massive scale. The southern industries have done this repeatedly."

The Ek Thi Daayan actress further added, "The way things are going, multilingual projects are the in thing. For every actor and talent involved, the audience base increases. I feel thrilled that I did my second Tamil film, Valimai. I have learned so much by sharing screen space with Thala Ajith and Rajinikanth sir. Not just as an actor, but also as an audience member, I am excited about these big pan-India films. Why should we have so many boundaries within our country anyway? We need to shake things up a bit in these seminal times. "

Apart from Bollywood films, Huma has also worked in the Hollywood film Army of the Dead which was released on Netflix last year. She also received praises for her performance in the web series Maharani.
