In their personal relationships, Hema Malini and Dharmendra have both surmounted obstacles, accepted many changes, and made adjustments. However, when it comes to their daughters, Hema never insisted that they make any adjustments. Hema Malini discussed how Esha Deol's Bollywood career made Dharmendra unhappy and that he didn't want her to become a heroine in one of her old interviews that is currently going viral.
Hema Malini in an interview said, “He was not keen on her coming into films. He’s still not very comfortable with her working. But she took a decision so as a mother I had to support her. Because I have brought her up in a different way, taught her all about the culture, to be free, to take decisions and she wanted to work in films.”

Hema continued by saying that Esha had asked her why she couldn't work in movies given that both her and her father are already well-known actors. "She asked me, ‘If you can work in films, papa can work, brothers are working in films, why do you say that it is not good?" As Esha Deol didn't get the answers to her questions she started her acting journey.
Another old interview with Hema Malini is also becoming viral in which she said that Dharmendra used to argue with her often because he didn't want her to pose with actors in a particular way.
Meanwhile, Legendary actor Dharmendra publicly apologized for not inviting his second family to Sunny Deol's son Karan Deol's wedding however, things are again fine between the two Deol families.
