One of the most adored and admired performers in the Indian film industry, Akshay Kumar is renowned for his work ethic and dedication. Ensuring that his run of flicks on the big screen is continued, superstar Akshay Kumar is back with his new film. The family drama, directed by Aanand L Rai and starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, is named Raksha Bandhan. The film which is set to hit theatres this week is being heavily promoted by the actor.

With the hashtag #BoycottRakshaBandhan, irate Twitter users have recently protested the movie Raksha Bandhan. For allegedly ripping from a Pakistani film, the movie is drawing criticism. Finally, Akshay spoke out about the boycott and trolling cultures during the Raksha Bandhan movie promotions.

The Sooryanvanshi actor said, "There are a few people who do all these things, they are doing mischief, that's okay. They can do whatever, anybody can do whatever they want. It's a free country, everybody is allowed to do whatever they want. My thing is to anyone that this industry or any industry whether it is a builder's industry, film industry or clothes industry, this all helps in the economy of India. By doing things like this, it's not going to make any sense. We all are on the verge of making our country the biggest and the greatest. I would just request to not get into it as it will be better for our country."

Following Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan is Akshay's third release of the year. It is scheduled to compete with the eagerly awaited Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. Raksha Bandhan, directed by Anand L Rai will be out in theatres on 11th August 2022. The film will be released on the same day as Raksha Bandhan, which is celebrated across India. The film, like the occasion, will focus on the beautiful relationship that exists between brothers and sisters.
